Working Title Films, 2007

A scene in Working Title Film's adaptation of Ian McEwan's bestselling novel involves the flooding of Balham Tube station. With flooding a full size set not a viable option we were asked by the production to provide a large scale miniature in order to realise the sequence. Because of the issues involved with shooting models and water we elected to work at 1/2 scale, the final model measuring approximately 5 foot in diameter and just over 25 foot in length. Each of the 2500 tiles was individually placed and weathered.

Shot on the stages at Shepperton studios towards the later half of 2006 by regular Model Unit cameraman Peter Tyler, the scene made it into both trailers for the film.
