February 20th 2010. BBC1 has screened an all-new trailer for Series Fnarg, featuring the Doctor and Amy tumbling through the vortex. November 15th 2009.  Press Gang alumni Lucy Benjamin (Julie Craig) is a contestant in the new series of  I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!  We imagine Colin would be delighted, but Lynda might not be so impressed....

November 2nd 2009.  Steven Moffat headlined at the Screenwriters Festival in Cheltenham, reported by Digital Spy.

October 6th 2009.  The BBC reveals the new logo for the 2010 series. [BBC]

September 19th 2009.  A poll in Issue 413 of Doctor Who Magazine places all four stories penned by Steven Moffat in the Top 25 of TV stories, with Blink placed at number #2, beating long-time fan-favourite Genesis of the Daleks, and bested only by The Caves of Androzani. Time Crash topped the extras chart, with The Curse of Fatal Death placed at #4.

September 9th 2009.  The BBC has confirmed that Richard Curtis will script a forthcoming episode of Doctor Who. [BBC]

July 20th 2009.  The first pictures of the Eleventh Doctor and his new companion Amy Pond have been posted on the BBC's Doctor Who website, as filming for Series 5 (11.1) begins in Cardiff. [BBC, BBC, The Mail, The Sun]

July 17th 2009.  Tabloid gossip suggests that the Eleventh Doctor's companion will be called Amy... [mirror.co.uk]

July 16th 2009.  The BBC have at last confirmed the commission of a 3x90 minute series of Sherlock, to be made by Hartswood Films for BBC1 in 2010. The pilot episode, entitled A Study in Pink, was completed earlier this year, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes, Martin Freeman as Dr Watson, and Rupert Graves as Lestrade. The series is created and co-written by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.[Broadcast]

May 30th 2009.  Karen Gillan has been confirmed as the Doctors new assistant, joining Matt Smith in the TARDIS in 2010. The name of her character has yet to be announced.  Moff describes Karen as “funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. [BBC, BBC, Broadcast]

May 23rd 2009.  Last night marked the end of filming for the last of the 2009 Specials featuring David Tennant as the Doctor, with a wrap party for the outgoing production team in Cardiff. Coyly downplaying the occasion, The Moff was giving nothing away when asked how he felt as the show entered a new era: I've been doing the job for ages now!” [view RTDs farewell to the TARDIS]

May 14th 2009.  Issue 115 of Doctor Who Adventures is a Weeping Angels Special, celebrating their recent Scariest Monster poll win. Creatures from stories written by Steven Moffat dominate the Top Ten, with The Empty Child at #10, the Vashta Nerada at #6, and the Clockwork Robots from The Girl in the Fireplace placed at #4. The magazine features fact files, posters, a mask and Weeping Angel inflatable toy.

April  6th 2009.  The Weeping Angels have been named Scariest Monster in a new Doctor Who Adventures poll, securing 41% of the reader vote, and soundly beating the Daleks into 2nd place.

March  20th 2009.  Here we go again! The Moff has earned his fourth consecutive Hugo Award nomination, this time for The Silence in the Library. Russell T Davies and Joss Whedon are also nominated in the Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form category.

March 12th 2009.  It's a completely unbelievable 10 years today since the  first transmission of The Curse of Fatal Death.  And we are delighted to report that COFD will soon be available to download from iTunes, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.  We'll keep you posted on that, but in the meantime, please support Red Nose Day 2009 and make a donation.

January 3rd 2009. The BBC have officially confirmed the casting of the Eleventh Doctor. The man who will be at the heart of Steven Moffat's vision for Doctor Who is Matt Smith [IMDB, BBC, BBC], whose credits The Sally Lockhart Mysteries, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Party Animals, The Street, and the forthcoming BBC drama Moses Jones. December 8th 2008. It is with great sadness that we report the death of Bob Spiers.  With a career spanning more than three decades, Bob Spiers directed some of the finest comedy performances from the last 30 years, and he had a key role in the realisation of much of Steven Moffat's early TV work, including 23 episodes of Press Gang, Murder Most Horrid: Overkill, and the entire run of Joking Apart.
