One of the showcase miniature effects shows during the BBC Visual Effects department's 50 year life, Red Dwarf proved a valuable training ground for many of the current Model Unit crew, and is the basis for the ongoing relationship with miniatures DoP Peter Tyler.

The show won the RTS award for Best Visual Effects three years running.
